Community Give-Back Programs
We want to help the next generation of comic creators, writers, and artists through our community give-back program. Comics and graphic novels are a collaborative medium that builds the skill set many young people will need once they venture into the workplace. Merely reading comics and graphic novel can have a significant impact on the youth. Comics can expand reading levels, expose the reader to advance literature themes and even teach a language. Whether they continue in creative fields or take a traditional job, our mission is to help them refine their skill set though comics to arm them better for the real world better.
We host worships and lectures to help educate the youth and the community on different aspects of sequential art. The workshops aim to help expose new people to creating comics or to help them refine their skills. Lectures will be on a verity of subjects relating to sequential art. For example, politics in comics, graphic novel subject matter, biography lectures by comic creators, etc.
There is a misconception that comics are silly and only filled with superheroes, this couldn’t be further from the truth. With the expansion of graphic novels, many focus on difficult subjects that are more commonly found in literature. Reading comics can improve literacy, help someone learn a language and expose readers to different genres and subject matters. Comics can help children become more interested in reading by grabbing their attention more easily than tradition literature. There is a comic for everyone. The trick is to make sure everyone has access to them.
Our One-for-One program is similar to companies like Tom’s Shoes. For every one comic series we create, we will mentor and produce a comic by a teen in New Mexico. The program will help the teens create their comics no matter where they are in the process. We will help them write, illustrate, ink, color or find a team to contribute to any of those functions. We will then digitally distribute the comic on our website for sale or for free, depending on the wishes of the teen creator.
